Loans

General books for normal loan can be borrowed out at the Circulation Counter. Borrowing privileges for the various categories of users are as follows:-

  1. Books

    Diploma and Degree students may borrow up to 6 books for 2 weeks
    Graduate students may borrow up to 15 books for 30 days
    Academic staff/tutor may borrow up to 30 books for 60 days
    Non-academic staff, and non-degree students may borrow up to 4 books for 2 weeks
    Distance Learning
    Degree students may borrow up to 4 books for 3 weeks
    Graduate students may borrow up to 15 books for 30 days

  2. Journals

    Currents issues and unbound issues of journals are to be used only in the Library

  3. Reference materials

    Reference materials are to be used only in the Library. However academic staff may borrow certain reference materials at the discretion of the Head, Circulation Division

  4. Red-spot books

    All users are allowed to borrow 1 book at a time for 2 hours
    Only 1 book is allowed to be borrowed on overnight loan

  5. Audio-visual materials

    All audio-visual materials are to be used in the Library. However academic staff may borrow certain audio-visual materials for 1 week. Requests to use audio-visual materials should be directed to the Head, Media and Archives Division

  6. Theses/Project Reports

    Theses and project reports may be borrowed for 2 hours
    Theses/project reports are not to be brought out of the Library
    Photocopies of theses and project reports can only be made on written permission
    by the author or appropriate authority

  7. Other library materials

    For the borrowing of other library materials, borrowers are to consult the respective Librarian at the service point.

Renewals

Library materials which have been borrowed may be renewed if they have not been reserved by another user.

Reservations

Guide for Book Reservations

Library users can place reservations for book that are on loan.

B. Claiming The Reserve Book

  1. Please check PINTAR when the item reserved is due for return. STATUS of item will be ON HOLD

  2. Note down the call number of the item and refer to the Circulation Counter to get the books.

C. Note

  1. Item with more than one reservations will be loaned out for only ONE WEEK.

  2. Items ON HOLDwill be kept for one week, after which it will be given to the next person on the list or returned to the shelf.

Red-spot materials can be reserved by filling out reservation forms available at the counter, Special Collections Division. Users will be informed of the time when reserved items should be collected. Reserved items will be kept for 10 minutes, after which they will be given to the next requestor. Reservations for overnight loan should be made at the time specified.

All reservations must be collected personally.
