SERDANG, 7 October – Yayasan Bank Rakyat (YBR) in collaboration with Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) held the launch of the “Program Pendidikan Yayasan Bank Rakyat Bersama UPM 2022” at Perpustakaan Sultan Abdul Samad (PSAS).
This program includes the launch of YBR Community Service Project (CSR) which is “Serambi Ilmu Rakyat (SIR) Corner” and the awarding of Early Study Assistance (BAP) 2022 amounting to RM100,000.00 to 100 UPM students.
The launching ceremony was attended by YBR Board of Trustees, YBhg. Datuk Dr. Haji Abd Rahman Bakri and Vice Chancellor of UPM, YH. Dato’ Prof. Dr. Mohd Roslan Sulaiman as well as members of the University Management Committee, UPM officers and students.
SIR Corner is YBR Community Service Project (CSR) a in the form of Bank Rakyat Digital Library with a concept of 80% digital and 20% physical. Over 100 thousand digital collections can be accessed through seven databases covering subjects such as business, economics, finance and others as well as general reading. The physical set of SIR Corner in the form of two computer units and a set of furniture was handed over to PSAS to provide comfort and facilitate users to access the database at SIR Corner.

In his welcoming speech, YH.Dato’ Prof. Dr. Mohd Roslan Sulaiman said that the contribution of SIR Corner will be part of became a very meaningful source of information for UPM citizens and will further increased the virtual visit statistics of the UPM Library. Whereas, the BAP grant is a “one-off” donation of RM1,000.00 per person to 100 UPM students from families with less means as per the criteria set by the YBR.
YH. Dato’ Prof. Dr. Mohd Roslan Sulaiman also said that BAP’s contribution to UPM students reduced will help to reduce the financial burden borne by parents and students before getting any help in continuing their studies at UPM.

Meanwhile, YBhg. Datuk Dr. Haji Abd Rahman Bakri explained in his opening speech that UPM was among the 18 Higher Education Institutes selected throughout Malaysia to receive the “SIR Corner” which involved an allocation of RM270,000.00.
He also emphasized that in addition to SIR Corner and BAP contribution. YBR is also always ready to offer a special contribution to UPM if there are emergency cases involving student welfare.
