This service is provided for Distance Learning (PJJ) students to meet their learning and research information needs.

BOOK LOAN SERVICES

  1. BOOK LOAN ELIGIBILITY
  • Undergraduate students are allowed to borrow 10 books from the General Collection for 30 days.
  • Postgraduate students are allowed to borrow 20 books from the General Collection for 30 days.
  • PJJ Collection (Module) can be borrowed according to eligibility.

 

  1. LOAN BY POST

Students who live far from the Serdang campus can make a loan by post. To use this service, please contact the PJJ Librarian with the following details:

  • Student's full name, matric number, email, telephone number and mailing address. (Students do not need to send a matric card along with the application).
  • Book information’s : title, author name, call number. (Please check the Library Catalogue (KOHA WebOPAC).

 

Note: Book shipping is free. However, the postage rate (express postage) for the return of books is borne by the student.

 

  1. BOOK RETURN PERIOD
  • Books must be returned on the date stamped on the return date slip. Students must return the book immediately if the book is required by the Library. The library will send a notice for overdue loans but will not be responsible if the notice does not reach the user.
  • For materials returned by post, the book return date is calculated from the date stamped on the package / envelope. Students are advised to return the book 3 days in advance of the return date.

 

  1. FINE
  • Students who return books late on the due date will be fined RM0.20 per day for each book.

 

BOOK RESERVATION

Books that are being borrowed by other students can be reserved. Students only need to check the Library Catalogue (KOHA WebOPAC) to find out if the book has been returned. Students can pick up the materials themselves or contact the Librarian for delivery by post.

 

LOAN RENEWAL

Students can renew the loan online or contact the Librarian by email, phone or letter at least 2 days before the return date. Loan renewal can only be done 2 times. Any problems can contact the PJJ Librarian by providing the following information: 

  • Name of Patron
  • Patron Matric Number
  • Book Informations (author name, title, call number)

 

LITERATURE RESEARCH SERVICES

The Information Research Service is a paid service provided by the Reference and User Education Division, Sultan Abdul Samad Library (PSAS) to help library users obtain information to carry out research projects, scientific writing, papers or coursework. This service is open to all UPM students and staff including members / external users of UPM (private / government employees / private employees).

The material obtained is from various sources of electronic information such as online databases and the internet. The research results are in the form of full text journal articles, book chapters, reference lists and abstracts.

RM 50.00 (11-30 articles maximum)

REFERENCES TO OTHER LIBRARIES

  • Students need to show their matric card if they want to make a reference to another library.
  • Students can only make references.

DOCUMENT DELIVERY SERVICE (DDS)

Document Delivery Service (DDS) is to help students obtain materials that are not in the library collection through cooperation between libraries either from within or outside the country. Applications can be made through EZAccess. https://ezaccess.upm.edu.my

INFORMATION LITERACY PROGRAM

Library Introduction Session

  • This program is available for new students who register at UPM. The program is held for 2 - 3 weeks at the beginning of the first semester of each new student recruitment session. The content of this program includes briefings on library collections, services and facilities as well as guidance on the use of the Library Catalog (WebOPAC).

 

Scheduled

  • This program is also conducted continuously and offered to all UPM students. The program schedule is displayed on library website.
  • Classes provided are:
    • Tuesday Class
    • Online Training Session by Publishers
    • Information Skill Classes

 Application

  • This program is open to all UPM students throughout the semester.
  • The minimum number is 5 peoples : physical class at the library
  • The minimum number is 3 peoples : online class
