Serdang, 15 February - The Sultan Abdul Samad Library (PSAS) has organized an online webinar on new technologies for innovative libraries, which was attended by 86 library staff. The aim was to share the latest technologies in the library sector and how they can be adapted to PSAS services.
Associate Prof. Dr. Muhamad Khairulnizam Zaini, Senior Lecturer from the College of Computing, Informatics and Mathematics Studies, Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) was invited to share about the challenges and diversity of new technology in librarianship. Among the topics discussed were the main drivers of digital transformation, technological innovations such as artificial intelligence (AI), blockchain, augmented reality and virtual reality. Emerging technologies offer significant opportunities for academic libraries to improve their services, online operations and meeting the needs of users. Various areas of collaboration and skills development in the library sector could be improved in bridging the gap between PSAS and its users.
This useful sharing for two hours ended with a Q&A session and was seen to be able to build a new set of skills for the librarians.
